Method

Chips

1

Prepare the Tortillas

Start by cutting the corn tortillas into triangles. You can achieve this by stacking them and cutting them into quarters.

2

Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want enough oil to submerge the tortilla triangles.

3

Fry the Chips

Once the oil is hot, carefully add a handful of tortilla triangles to the pan. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

4

Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle salt over them while they are still hot.

5

Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper finely. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeño before dicing.

6

Mix the Salsa

In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

7

Add Seasonings

Pour in the lime juice, and sprinkle in salt and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.

8

Taste and Adjust

Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning as needed. You can add more lime juice or salt to taste.
