Method

Preparation of Buñuelos

1

Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

2

Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

3

Heat Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

4

Fry the Buñuelos

Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop the dough into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

5

Drain and Cool

Remove the buñuelos from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.

Preparation of Dulce de Leche

6

Make the Dulce de Leche

To make dulce de leche, simmer the sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and turns a caramel color. This can take about 30-40 minutes.

Serving

7

Serve

Serve the warm buñuelos drizzled with dulce de leche on top.
