Method
Bread Pudding
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the day-old bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Combine and Bake
Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then transfer to a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving over the bread pudding.

Heat the Dairy
In a saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until just simmering.
Cook the Custard
Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Do not let it boil.
Strain and Cool
Strain the custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and let it cool slightly before serving.
