Method

Martini

1

Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you mix the cocktail to chill.

2

Add ice to a cocktail shaker until about two-thirds full (approximately 1 cup).

3

Pour in 2 oz vodka, 0.75 oz lychee liqueur (or 0.75 oz lychee syrup), 0.5 oz fresh lychee juice/nectar, 0.25 oz dry vermouth, and 0.25 oz fresh lime juice into the shaker. If you prefer a sweeter martini, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

4

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. Vigorous shaking helps integrate the syrupy lychee components and creates a slight froth.

5

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer (or discard the ice water and dry). Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini/coupe glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and any pulp from the lychee juice.

Garnish & Serve

6

Skewer the peeled, pitted lychee on a cocktail pick (or simply pop it into the bottom of the glass).

7

Optional: express a lime twist over the drink (pinch the peel to release oils) and drop it into the cocktail or rest it on the rim.

8

Serve immediately while cold.
