Deep Fried Pickles Ingredients
Method
Directions for Deep Fried Pickles
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice in the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or spicy ketchup.
