Carne Asada Marinade

Method

Marinating the Steak

1

Prepare Marinade

In a large bowl, combine lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Mix well.

2

Marinate Steak

Place the flank steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Rice

3

Cook Rice

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the rice and salt, stir, and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

Preparing the Beans

4

Heat Beans

In a small saucepan, combine the canned black beans, garlic powder, cumin, and salt. Heat over medium heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes.

Grilling the Steak

5

Preheat Grill

Preheat a grill to high heat.

6

Grill Steak

Remove the flank steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness.

7

Rest and Slice

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
