Base

Method

Preparation of Base

1

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and sugar until well combined.

2

Heat Milk

In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.

3

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the cornstarch and sugar mixture to the warm milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.

4

Add Vanilla

Once the mixture is smooth, stir in the vanilla extract.

5

Thicken the Mixture

Continue to cook the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 10-15 minutes.

6

Pour into Molds

Remove from heat and pour the thickened mixture into individual serving cups or molds. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

7

Refrigerate

Once cooled, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.

Topping

8

Prepare Toppings

Before serving, sprinkle the tops of the muhallabia with chopped pistachios, coconut flakes, and a dusting of cinnamon.

9

Serve

Serve chilled as a refreshing dessert.
