Tofu Preparation

Method

Tofu Preparation

1

Press the Tofu

Wrap the firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.

2

Cut the Tofu

Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

3

Coat with Cornstarch

In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch and salt until evenly coated.

4

Fry the Tofu

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Sauce Preparation

5

Cook the Aromatics

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the chopped onion, garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until the onion becomes translucent.

6

Add Tomato Puree

Stir in the tomato puree, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.

7

Incorporate Coconut Milk

Pour in the coconut milk, curry powder, and turmeric powder. Stir well to combine and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.

8

Combine Tofu and Sauce

Add the fried tofu back into the skillet, stirring gently to coat the tofu with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

9

Garnish and Serve

Serve hot, garnished with chopped cilantro.
