Preparation

1

Slice the Onions

Peel the large onions and cut them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

Batter Preparation

2

Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

3

Add Water

Gradually stir in the cold water until the batter is smooth and well combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the onion rings.

Frying

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

6

Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

7

Drain and Serve

Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
