Lasagna Bolognese
Garlic Toast
Method
Lasagna Bolognese Preparation
Prepare the Bolognese Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, grated carrot, and chopped celery, sautéing until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Cook the Spinach
In a separate pot, steam or sauté the fresh spinach until wilted. Set aside.
Mix the Ricotta
In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
Layer the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). In a baking dish, spread a layer of Bolognese sauce, followed by lasagna noodles, a layer of ricotta, spinach, and mozzarella. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of Bolognese and topping with mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake the Lasagna
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Garlic Toast Preparation
Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.
Toast the Baguette
Slice the baguette in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.
