Cooking Instructions

1

Prepare the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the cavatappi pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2

Make the Mornay Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.

3

Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens and bubbles.

4

Season the Sauce

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded gruyère cheese until melted. Season with salt, black pepper, and grated nutmeg.

5

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked cavatappi pasta to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is well coated.

6

Prepare for Baking

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish and top with bread crumbs.

7

Bake the Gratin

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

8

Serve

Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve hot.
