Pasta and Chicken
Cheese Sauce
Bacon Parmesan Herb Crumble
Method
Prepare the Chicken
Grill the Chicken
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Cook the Pasta
Boil the Cavatappi Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the cavatappi pasta and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce
Prepare the Cheese Sauce
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth and creamy.
Prepare the Bacon Parmesan Herb Crumble
Combine Crumble Ingredients
In a bowl, mix the crumbled bacon, grated parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, panko breadcrumbs, and olive oil. Stir until combined.
Combine and Serve
Mix Everything Together
In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained pasta, sliced grilled chicken, and cheese sauce. Stir until all ingredients are well coated. Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle the bacon parmesan herb crumble on top.
Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Serve hot.
