Base Spirits & Liqueurs

Method

Mixing the Cocktail

1

Measure and add spirits

Add 2 tbs apple brandy, 1 tbs orange liqueur, 1 tbs blanc vermouth, and 1/2 tbs amaro into a chilled mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

2

Add citrus and sweetener

Pour in 3/4 tbs fresh lemon juice and 1/4 tbs simple syrup into the same vessel to balance acidity and bitterness.

3

Add ice and stir (or shake)

Fill the mixing glass or shaker with large ice cubes. For a silkier, slightly diluted texture, stir briskly for 20–30 seconds until the outside of the glass is frosty. If you prefer a brighter, more aerated profile, shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds and then double-strain into the serving glass.

Serving

4

Choose glassware

Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass (or an old-fashioned glass over a single large cube if you prefer it on the rocks).

5

Garnish

Express a lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick squeeze to release oils; wipe the rim with the twist and drop it in. If using, float a dehydrated apple slice or rest a thin apple peel on the rim for an aromatic accent.

6

Final tasting note

Give the cocktail a gentle swirl and serve immediately. The Golden Years should present apple warmth up front, balanced citrus brightness, herbal notes from the blanc vermouth and amaro, and a subtle sweet finish.
