Preparation
Prepare the Butternut Squash
Peel, seed, and cube the butternut squash into bite-sized pieces.
Prepare the Apples
Core and chop the apples into small chunks, leaving the skin on for added texture.
Cooking
Cook the Butternut Squash
In a large pot, add the butternut squash and cover it with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
Sauté the Apples
In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of butter or oil. Once melted, add the chopped apples and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they soften slightly.
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked butternut squash, sautéed apples, crème fraîche, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
Serving
Plate the Dish
Spoon the butternut apple mixture onto serving plates and garnish with additional crème fraîche if desired. Serve warm.
