Preparation

1

Prepare the Cheese Sauce

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until lightly golden.

2

Add Liquid Ingredients

Gradually whisk in the milk and beer, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

3

Incorporate the Cheeses

Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses along with the cream cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

4

Season the Sauce

Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce (if using) to the cheese mixture. Stir to combine and set aside.

Assembling the Nachos

5

Layer the Chips

On a large serving plate or baking tray, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.

6

Add Cheese Sauce

Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the tortilla chips, ensuring every chip is coated.

7

Add Toppings

Sprinkle the sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, and diced tomatoes over the cheese-covered nachos. Add dollops of sour cream on top.

Serving

8

Serve Immediately

Serve the nachos warm with additional hot sauce on the side, if desired.
