Margarita Cocktail
Method
Margarita Cocktail
Prepare glass
Run the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled coupe or rocks glass to moisten it. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and gently press the glass rim into the salt so the rim picks up an even coating. Set the glass aside.
Build and chill
Fill a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec), and 0.5 oz simple syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink.
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds (until the outside of the shaker is frosty). This chills and dilutes the cocktail to the right balance.
Strain and serve
Double-strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer (or the shaker strainer) into the prepared glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice for a neat/coupe presentation. Garnish with the reserved lime wedge on the rim or floated on top.
Taste and adjust: If the cocktail tastes too tart, stir in an additional 0.25–0.5 oz simple syrup and briefly stir or shake with ice and re-strain. If it tastes too sweet, add a splash (0.25 oz) more fresh lime juice and re-shake.
