Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Ingredients

Wash the fresh basil leaves under cold running water, then gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Peel the garlic cloves.

2

Toast the Pine Nuts

In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the pine nuts until they are golden brown, stirring frequently to prevent burning, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Blending

3

Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the washed basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, garlic cloves, and grated Parmesan cheese. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely chopped.

4

Add Olive Oil

While the food processor is running, gradually pour in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is well combined.

5

Season to Taste

Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, and pulse a few more times to incorporate.
