If you don't have fig-infused vodka
Make a quick fig infusion ahead: halve 2–3 ripe fresh figs and place in a 12 oz (350 ml) jar with 8 oz (240 ml) vodka. Let sit at room temperature for 4–6 hours (longer for stronger flavor) then strain solids and reserve infused vodka. For immediate use, muddle a fresh fig in the shaker (see below).
Fill a copper mug or highball glass with cracked ice or ice cubes (about 1 cup).
If using a shaker: add 2 oz fig-infused vodka (or 2 oz plain vodka + 1/2 muddled fresh fig), 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional) into the shaker with a few ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds to chill and integrate the fig.
Top gently with 4 oz Gosling's ginger beer. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to combine—avoid over-stirring to keep carbonation.
Taste and adjust: if the drink needs more sweetness, add an additional 0.25 oz simple syrup; if it needs more acid, add 0.25 oz lime juice.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish the drink with a fresh fig slice perched on the rim or floated on top, a lime wheel or wedge on the rim, and a mint sprig tucked beside the fig if using.
Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy chilled.
