Main Ingredients

For Barrel Aging

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Barrel Aging

In a clean, dry glass jar or small barrel, add 1 cup of oak chips. Pour the 100 proof bourbon over the oak chips, sealing the jar or barrel tightly.

2

Aging Process

Let the bourbon age with the oak chips for a minimum of 2 weeks. For a more robust flavor, you can age it for up to 4 weeks. Shake the jar or barrel gently every few days to ensure even aging.

Mixing the Cocktail

3

Combine Ingredients

After the aging process, strain the bourbon to remove the oak chips. In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the aged bourbon, Vermouth di Torino, and bitters.

4

Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute the drink slightly.

5

Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass. Optionally, garnish with a cherry or a twist of orange peel.
