Prepare glass
Salt the rim
Rub a lime wedge around the lip of a rocks glass or coupe to moisten. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and gently dip and twist the glass rim into the salt so it adheres evenly. Set the glass aside.
Mix cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker with the measured ice (about 1 cup).
Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz triple sec (or Cointreau), and 0.5 oz agave syrup to the shaker.
Add 2 dashes of orange bitters if using; this adds subtle depth and rounds the citrus notes.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and well chilled.
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
