Burger Preparation
Prepare the Beef Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground Angus beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat, then form into two equal patties, about ½ inch thick.
Cook the Burgers
In the same skillet with the bacon fat, increase the heat to medium-high. Add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, and place a slice of aged cheddar cheese on top. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
Assemble the Burger
Build the Burger
Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet. To assemble, spread 1 tablespoon of CO Gold BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheddar on top, followed by 2 slices of bacon and a generous spoonful of caramelized onions. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve
Serve the burger immediately with your choice of side: French fries, coleslaw, or onion rings.
