Method

Prepare the Pretzel Dough

1

Activate the Yeast

In a bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups), brown sugar (0.5 cups), and active dry yeast (2.25 tsp). Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (1 tsp). Mix well.

3

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

4

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5

Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

7

Prepare Baking Soda Solution

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda (0.5 cups) to a boil.

8

Shape the Dough

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it slightly to form a slider shape.

9

Boil the Pretzel Sliders

Drop each slider into the boiling baking soda solution for about 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a greased baking sheet.

10

Brush with Egg and Sprinkle Salt

Brush each slider with the beaten egg (1 large) and sprinkle coarse sea salt (2 tsp) on top.

11

Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare the Slider Filling

12

Cook the Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef (1 lb) until browned. Season with salt (1 tsp) and black pepper (0.5 tsp).

13

Add Cheese

Once the beef is cooked, place cheddar cheese slices (8 slices) on top and cover until melted.

14

Assemble the Sliders

Once the pretzel sliders are baked, slice them in half. Place a portion of the beef and melted cheese on the bottom half, top with sliced pickles (0.5 cup), and place the top half back on.
