Method
Preparation
Prepare the Salmon
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This helps to achieve a nice sear.
Season the Salmon
Rub both sides of the salmon fillets with olive oil, then sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over both sides.
Cooking
Preheat the Pan
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to heat up for about 2-3 minutes until hot.
Sear the Salmon
Carefully place the salmon fillets in the hot skillet, skin-side down (if the skin is on). Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them. This will allow a golden crust to form.
Flip the Salmon
Using a spatula, gently flip the salmon fillets over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Add Lemon Juice
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the cooked salmon fillets just before removing them from the pan for added flavor.
Serving
Plate the Salmon
Transfer the seared salmon fillets to a serving plate. If desired, garnish with fresh dill and capers for added flavor and presentation.
Serve Immediately
Serve the salmon hot with additional lemon wedges on the side for extra flavor.
