Nhoque (Gnocchi)
Bolognese Sauce
Method
Nhoque (Gnocchi)
Mash the Potatoes
Drain the potatoes and let them cool slightly. Peel the potatoes while they are still warm and then mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
Shape the Gnocchi
Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a long rope about 1 cm thick. Cut into 2 cm pieces and use a fork to press gently on each piece to create ridges.
Cook the Gnocchi
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi in batches and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Bolognese Sauce
Cook the Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Break it apart with a spatula and ensure it is fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine with Gnocchi
Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet. Gently toss to combine and heat through for about 2 minutes.
Serve
Serve the gnocchi with Bolognese sauce in bowls. Grate fresh parmesan cheese on top before serving.
