Method
Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cookies.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
Mixing Ingredients
Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract and continue to beat until fully incorporated.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in Chocolate Chips
Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips with a spatula or wooden spoon until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
