Method
Preparing the Dough
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
Combine Ingredients
Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Assembling and Baking
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface.
Add Toppings
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, then add Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, and chili flakes.
Cut into Stix
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
Bake
Transfer the cut stix to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Garnish and Serve
Once baked, remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh basil, and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
