Method
Muddling & Aromatics
Prepare glass and mint
Place 8 fresh mint leaves and 2 lime wedges into a sturdy highball glass. Add 0.75 oz simple syrup. Using a muddler, gently press and twist the mint and lime 6–8 times — firm enough to release the lime oils and mint aroma but avoid shredding the mint to prevent bitterness.
Cocktail Base
Add spirits and citrus
Pour 2 oz gold rum and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice into the glass with the muddled mint and lime. Stir gently 6–8 times with a bar spoon to integrate flavors and dissolve residual syrup.
Finish & Garnish
Garnish
Gently slap a mint sprig between your palms to release its aroma and place it on top. Add an optional lime wheel to the rim. Serve with a straw positioned to one side so the drinker can smell the mint while sipping.
