Roasted Red Peppers
Sauce Base
Method
Roasting Peppers
Prepare the Peppers
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Rinse the red bell peppers under cold water and remove the stems and seeds.
Roast the Peppers
Place the peppers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the skin is blistered and charred.
Cool and Peel
Remove the peppers from the oven and place them in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let them steam for 10 minutes. After steaming, peel off the charred skin and chop the peppers.
Making the Sauce
Combine Ingredients
Add the chopped roasted red peppers to the saucepan, along with the balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Simmer the Sauce
Allow the mixture to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and flavors meld.
Blend the Sauce
Remove the saucepan from heat. Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce until smooth. Alternatively, transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.
Add Basil
Stir in the fresh basil leaves until well incorporated. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
