Base Ingredients

Method

Baking the Base

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the base cooks evenly.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.

4

Add Eggs and Wet Ingredients

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract until fully combined.

5

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

6

Pour Into Bakeware

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.

7

Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8

Cool

Allow the baked base to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Creating the Imagery

9

Prepare Berries

Wash the fresh berries thoroughly and pat them dry with a clean towel. Slice strawberries if necessary.

10

Make Sugar Dust

In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with a few drops of water to create a thick syrup. Drizzle over the berries for added sweetness.

11

Assemble the Dish

Once the base is completely cooled, spread a layer of whipped cream over the top. Arrange the fresh berries in an artistic pattern on top of the whipped cream.

12

Garnish

Sprinkle the mint leaves over the berries as a garnish for a fresh touch.

13

Serve

Slice the dessert into squares and serve immediately for the best presentation and taste.
