Cooking Pasta

1

Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

2

Cook Spaghetti

Add 400 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

3

Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse the pasta.

Preparing the Sauce

4

Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

5

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in 800 grams of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

6

Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.

Combining

7

Mix Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce and toss until the pasta is well coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Serving

8

Plate the Dish

Serve the spaghetti in bowls, and top with 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves, and 20 grams of extra grated Parmesan cheese.
