Biscuit Preparation

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine buttermilk, melted butter, and the yeast mixture. Mix well.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently and pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.

6

Bake

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
