Method
Pork Preparation
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
Make the BBQ Sauce
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Sandwich Assembly
Assemble the Sandwich
Toast hamburger buns until golden brown. Spoon a generous amount of shredded pork onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with BBQ sauce and optional coleslaw. Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich.
Serve
Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
