Preparation
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
Make the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until onion is translucent. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Assembly
Layer the Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and then a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a final layer of noodles and meat sauce on top. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the last layer.
Baking
Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
