Steak Marinade

Sandwich Assembly

Method

Steak Marinade Preparation

1

Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine minced garlic, lime juice, olive oil, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.

2

Add the Steak

Place the top round steak into the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Cooking and Assembling the Sandwich

3

Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

4

Sauté the Onions

In a separate skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

5

Prepare the Bread

Slice the Cuban bread in half lengthwise. Spread the remaining tablespoon of butter on the inside of each half.

6

Assemble the Sandwich

Layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of the Cuban bread, followed by the sautéed onions and slices of tomato. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread.

7

Press the Sandwich

Heat a pan or sandwich press over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan, pressing down firmly. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and crispy.

8

Serve

Remove from heat, slice the sandwich in half, and serve hot.
