Method

Cherry & Jalapeño Jam Preparation

1

Make the Jam

In a medium saucepan, combine the dark cherries, jalapeño, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and salt. Stir well.

2

Cook the Jam

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.

Burger Preparation

3

Shape the Patties

In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape into 4 equal patties, pressing a small indentation in the center of each.

4

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of goat gouda on each patty to melt.

5

Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each millet and flax bun, layer the caramelized onions, cooked patty with melted gouda, fresh arugula, and a generous spoonful of the cherry and jalapeño jam. Top with the other half of the bun.

Sweet Potato Rounds Preparation

6

Prepare the Sweet Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.

7

Season and Roast

In a bowl, toss the sweet potato rounds with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.

8

Bake

Roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and tender.
