Method
Cooking Pasta
Boil Water
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook Spaghetti
Add gluten-free spaghetti to boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
Drain Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and set aside.
Making Meat Sauce
Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Sauté Onion
Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add Garlic
Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
Brown Meat
Add ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Sauce Ingredients
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add Parsley
Stir in chopped parsley just before serving.
Making Marinara Sauce (Optional)
Sauté Garlic for Marinara
Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add Marinara Ingredients
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper to the skillet.
Simmer Marinara
Simmer for 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
Add Fresh Basil
Stir in chopped fresh basil before serving.
Serving
Serve Spaghetti
Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with either meat sauce or marinara sauce.
