Method
Chicken Fried Steak
Prepare the Breading Station
In three separate bowls, set up your breading station: one with flour mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, another with buttermilk, and the last with beaten eggs.
Bread the Steak
Dip each cube steak into the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Next, dip it into the buttermilk, and finally into the beaten eggs, ensuring a thorough coating each time.
Fry the Steak
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the breaded steaks in the oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Sandwich Assembly
Prepare the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each sandwich bun, place a layer of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato. Add a piece of the fried steak on top.
Add Condiments
Spread mayonnaise on the top half of the bun before closing the sandwich.
Gravy (optional)
Add Broth
Gradually add beef broth while whisking to ensure no lumps form. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
