Prepare the Tuna
Prepare the Tuna
Season the Ahi tuna steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Press sesame seeds onto the tuna to coat both sides evenly.
Sear the Tuna
In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest.

Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, and lime juice. Stir well to mix.
Serve
Plate the Dish
Slice the seared tuna into thin slices. Arrange on a plate alongside the caramelized onions. Drizzle with the spicy ponzu sauce and garnish with chopped scallions and fried garlic.
