Preparation

1

Prepare the Glass

Start by chilling your Old Fashioned glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.

2

Mix the Base Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine the bourbon or rye whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.

3

Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture until well-chilled and diluted, about 30 seconds.

Assembly

4

Combine Ingredients in Glass

Empty the ice water from the chilled Old Fashioned glass. Strain the mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared Old Fashioned glass over a large ice cube.

5

Add Seasonal Fruit

Add the seasonal fruit slice (orange, cherry, or apple) and the cinnamon stick to the glass.

Garnishing

6

Garnish the Cocktail

Express the oils from the orange peel twist over the drink and then place it in the glass as a garnish.
