Flaming Bananas Foster

Method

Flaming Bananas Foster

1

Prepare the Ingredients

Peel the ripe bananas and slice them lengthwise in half. Set aside.

2

Make the Sauce

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is bubbly.

3

Add Bananas

Gently add the sliced bananas to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes, spooning the sauce over them. The bananas should soften slightly.

4

Flaming the Dish

Carefully pour the dark rum over the bananas and sauce. Using a long lighter or match, ignite the rum. Allow the flames to subside as the alcohol burns off, which should take about 1-2 minutes.

5

Serve

Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the flaming bananas over scoops of vanilla ice cream while the sauce is still warm.
