Fried Smashed Potatoes

Method

Fried Smashed Potatoes

1

Boil the Potatoes

Place the small potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.

2

Smash the Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). On a baking sheet, place the boiled potatoes and gently smash each one with a fork or potato masher.

3

Season and Bake

Drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until crispy and golden brown.

4

Cook the Egg

In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, crack the eggs and cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny, about 3-4 minutes for over-medium. Remove and set aside.

5

Prepare the Protein

If using ham or bacon, cook in the same skillet until crispy. If using fried chicken, ensure it's heated through.

6

Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each burger bun, layer the smoked gouda, your choice of ham, bacon, or fried chicken, the cooked egg, and drizzle with bourbon hot honey.

7

Complete the Sandwich

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately alongside the fried smashed potatoes.
