Method

Preparation of Chili

1

Cook the Beef

In a large pot over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

2

Add Vegetables and Spices

Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper, cooking for another minute.

3

Add Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and kidney beans. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cooking Hot Dogs

4

Grill or Boil Hot Dogs

While the chili is simmering, grill or boil the Kayem foot long hot dogs according to your preference until heated through, about 5-7 minutes.

Assembling the Chili Dogs

5

Prepare the Buns

Place the hot dog buns on a plate. If desired, lightly toast them on the grill or in the oven.

6

Assemble the Dogs

Place each hot dog in a bun. Generously top each hot dog with the house-made chili. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar jack cheese and add fresh jalapeno slices on top.

7

Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy the messiness of your Big League Chili Dog!
