Cake Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Add Boiling Water
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cakes
Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting
In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
Add Liquid Ingredients
Add the whole milk and vanilla extract, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
Frost the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
Serve
Slice and serve the cake, enjoying the rich chocolate flavor!
