Preparation

1

Prepare the Filet Mignon

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

2

Season the Steak

Rub the filet mignon with olive oil on all sides. Then, sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary evenly over the steak, pressing it gently into the meat.

Grilling

3

Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450°F to 500°F (232°C to 260°C). If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are glowing red.

4

Grill the Filet Mignon

Place the seasoned filet mignon on the grill. Grill for 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the steak and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness (130°F or 54°C internal temperature). Adjust timing if you prefer a different level of doneness.

5

Rest the Steak

Remove the filet mignon from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
