Preparation
Rinse the Cranberries
Start by rinsing the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cold water to remove any debris or impurities.
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Cook the Cranberries
Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed cranberries to the pot. Reduce the heat to medium and allow them to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and softened.
Strain the Mixture
After the cranberries have cooked, remove the pot from heat. Use a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the liquid into a large bowl or pitcher, discarding the solid cranberry skins.
Add Lemon Juice
For an extra layer of flavor, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and stir to combine.
Cool and Serve
Let the juice cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice, if desired.
