Base Ingredients

Method

Cooking the Rice Grits

1

Prepare the Cooking Liquid

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water.

2

Add the Rice Grits

Once the water is boiling, slowly add 1 cup of rice grits while stirring continuously to prevent clumping.

3

Simmer the Grits

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice grits simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the liquid is absorbed and the grits are creamy.

Finishing Touches

4

Add Flavorings

Once the grits are cooked, remove the pot from the heat. Stir in 2 tbs of butter, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 cup of Parmesan cheese until well combined.

5

Garnish

Top with 1 tbs of chopped fresh chives for a burst of color and flavor.
