Method
Preparation of Skewers
Soak Skewers
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
Prepare Potatoes
Wash baby potatoes and cut them in half. If they are larger, quarter them to ensure even cooking.
Cut Steak
Trim excess fat from the sirloin steak and cut it into 1-inch cubes.
Season Ingredients
In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the steak cubes and potato halves, tossing until everything is well coated.
Assembly and Cooking
Preparation of Tamarind Sauce
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, mix together the tamarind paste, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, water, and red chili flakes.
Simmer Sauce
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and let simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.
Serving
Serve Skewers
Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Add Sauce
Drizzle the tamarind sauce over the skewers and serve with extra sauce on the side for dipping.
