Method

Preparation of Skewers

1

Soak Skewers

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.

2

Prepare Potatoes

Wash baby potatoes and cut them in half. If they are larger, quarter them to ensure even cooking.

3

Cut Steak

Trim excess fat from the sirloin steak and cut it into 1-inch cubes.

4

Season Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the steak cubes and potato halves, tossing until everything is well coated.

Assembly and Cooking

5

Assemble Skewers

Thread the steak and potato pieces alternately onto the soaked skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.

6

Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C).

7

Grill Skewers

Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and the potatoes are tender.

Preparation of Tamarind Sauce

8

Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, mix together the tamarind paste, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, water, and red chili flakes.

9

Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and let simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.

Serving

10

Serve Skewers

Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

11

Add Sauce

Drizzle the tamarind sauce over the skewers and serve with extra sauce on the side for dipping.
