Hemme Bros. Quark Cheese
Method
Making the Pretzel Dough
Activate Yeast
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Combine Ingredients
Gradually mix in the melted butter and salt into the yeast mixture.
Form Dough
Slowly add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead Dough
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking the Pretzels
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Divide Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
Shape Pretzels
Roll each piece into a long rope (about 24 inches) and shape it into a pretzel.
Prepare Boiling Solution
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking soda.
Boil Pretzels
Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds on each side, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Add Salt
Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse sea salt before baking.
Bake Pretzels
Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Making the Hemme Bros. Quark Cheese Dip
Mix Quark Cheese Dip
In a mixing bowl, combine Hemme Bros. quark cheese, chopped chives, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Season to Taste
Stir until well combined and adjust seasoning as needed.
