Toppings
Method
Prepare the Patties
Mix the Ground Beef
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, then flatten them into patties about 1/2 inch thick.
Cook the Patties
Preheat the Grill or Pan
Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add Cheese
After flipping, place two slices of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.
Prepare the Bacon
Cook the Bacon
While the patties are cooking, in a separate skillet, cook the bacon strips over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assemble the Burger
Toast the Buns
If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
